The community continues to rally for police officer Gerry Martin, who suffered serious injuries in an off-duty incident at his home in early July.
Most recently, Martin, a former ball hockey star, had friends and supporters organize a throwback charity ball hockey game in his honour.

The game pitted members of the former Cortina Chiefs against Gerry's former East Side Mario's squad.
"Though East Side’s fell short on the scoreboard Thursday night (Cortina’s won the game 6-2), the night was a success as through donations from participants, and sponsors they were able to raise $1500 to help their friend," said Andy Vitunski, one of the event organizers and currently the head of the North Bay Men's Ball Hockey League.
"Thanks to all who participated and helped out. Thanks also goes out to Stockfish Ford and East Side Mario’s for their donation. Also thanks to Tim Foster, Ron Gauthier and Andrew Paddon who donated their time doing the officiating and to the North Bay Men’s Ball Hockey League for donating the floor time to play the games," Vitunski continued.
Anyone who would like to purchase a shirt like the ones worn by East Side’s in the game can contact Andy Vitunski at northbayballhockeyleague@
Cost of the shirts are $20 each and all proceeds go to Gerry. Various shirt sizes are available.
