Coke bust on the highway

A Bonfield man faces drug-related charges after being stopped in his vehicle by members of Project Gateway, a joint investigation between members of the Ontario Provincial Police and North Bay Police Service.

Project Gateway members,assisted by the Mattawa OPP, stopped a red Pontiac Sunfire on Highway 17, in Mattawa, Tuesday night approximately 7:30.

The officers, acting on a tip, seized approximately a pound and a half of cocaine.

A 24 year-old Bonfield man, whose name police haven't released yet, faces charges of:

1. Trafficking Cocaine, Section 5(1)(i) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

2. Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine, Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs Substances Act.

Officers of Project Gateway are continuing their investigation. The approximate street value of cocaine seized is $75,000.00 Dollars.
