Further information is included in the following release from the local OPP detachment:

(North Bay, On) - Spring has Sprung!

The area is now experiencing a thaw. Area highways and roads are predominately wet due to the melting of snow and ice. Road salt and sand has been left behind from the winter months.

Your vehicle becomes dirty in a short period of time when traveling to destinations. Sand and salt builds up on your headlights and tail lights.

Safety in your vehicle is extremely important. Motorists constantly drive to ‘See’ what is in-front and around them. It is equally important to ‘Be Seen’ by other motorists.

The North Bay OPP would like to remind motorists and company vehicle owners/operators to ‘Clean Your Running Lights’. Your intentions in stopping, turning and approaching should be clear to other motorists.

Dirty running lights, especially the tail lights, can cause other motorists to react the wrong way. Keep a rag in your trunk or cab so that you can constantly keep your lights clean. Don’t wait until you gas-up, check and clean your lights frequently.

Avoid a tragedy on our roadways, ‘See and Be Seen’; ‘Clean Your Running Lights’!
