City and OPP combine forces in drug raid

The combined efforts of the North Bay Police Street Crime Unit and the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau of the OPP led to the execution of a search warrant and seizure of drugs being trafficked in this area.

Late yesterday afternoon, police executed the warrant at a house on Martin Street, in the West Ferris area of the city where a man was arrested.

The search warrant resulted in the seizure of;

  • 455.4 grams of suspected cocaine
  • 617 suspected methamphetamine tablets
  • 27.6 grams of suspected psilocybin
  • 20 suspected Percocet tablets
  • 3.9 grams of suspected hash
  • $3,705 in cash
  • Scales
  • Packaging Material
  • A prohibited knife

The estimated street value of the drugs is $61,438.

Darren Carruthers, 46, of North Bay is charged with:

  • Four Counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Proceeds Property Obtained by Crime; and
  • Possession Prohibited Weapon.

Carruthers was released from custody and will appear in the North Bay Courthouse on November 10.
