Nipissing-Timiskaing Conservative Candidate Peter Chirico broke with tradition and opted to cast his ballot early in the Advance Poll at Ste. Anne’s School on Albert Street today.

Chirico and wife Peggy opted to cast their ballots today versus January 23 in order to focus on reaching the end of the campaign.

“My wife and I wanted to get out and make sure we cast our vote early, as we’re encouraging all voters to do is get out to vote, and exercise their right to vote. And we thought getting out early would be a good idea and set an example for people to get out and vote.”

Chirico said Election Day activities contributed to his decision to cast the ballot today and not because of the threat of inclement weather.

“I think a lot of people are out the polls have been busy, at least from what we’ve heard and no, this is just to get out we’re going to be busy on Election Day and we’re not going to stop until the end.”

When asked how he voted the candidate answered with a smile.

“As we know, we all respect our right as voters to a confidential vote, but I’ll give you a little hint,” (wink wink).
