Charges laid in hit and run

A North Bay woman and a Sudbury man have been charged by Ontario Provincial Police following a hit and run accident Monday night.

A 50-year-old women was sent to North Bay General Hospital as a result of the collision, which took place shortly before 8:00 p.m. at the intersection of the North bypass and O’Brien Street.

Judith Couchie, of North Bay, was treated for non-life threating injuries and released from the hospital.

Police said the grey 1996 Mazda she was a passenger in was struck by a westbound pick-up truck. The truck fled the scene. Police were looking for a black 1990 Ford pick-up truck in connection with the accident.

The pick-up was located by police Tuesday.

Justine Antoine, 56, of North Bay has been charged with:

1)Failure to stop at the scene of an accident, Section 252 of the Criminal Code of Canada;
2)Obstructing a police officer, Section 129(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada;
3)Careless driving, Section 130 of the Highway Traffic Act;
4)Drive motor vehicle – no licence, Section 32(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.

George Boudreault, 79, of Sudbury has been charged with:

1)Obstructing a police officer, Section 129(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada;
2)Fail to report an accident, Section 199(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.

Antoine and Boudreault are to appear at the North Bay Ontario Court of Justice at 360 Plouffe Street on Tuesday April 27th, 2004 at 9:30 a.m.
