Charges laid in attempted stabbing attack

Police say that shortly after 9 a.m., the victim was on Ferguson Street when he heard breaking glass down an alley beside Trinity United Church.

Police have laid charges following that knife attack yesterday outside a church on Ferguson St.

Yesterday police responded to a disturbance on the corner of McIntyre Street and Ferguson.

Police say that shortly after 9 a.m., the victim was on Ferguson Street when he heard breaking glass down an alley beside Trinity United Church.

The victim confronted three men and told them to leave the area. The confrontation with one of the three turned physical when he drew a knife on the victim.

Police were called and the attacker was located nearby where he was arrested.

The victim was not injured.  

North Bay Police arrested Tyler Porter, 29, of North Bay who is charged with:

  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose;
  • Uttering a Death Threat: and
  • Breach of probation.

Porter remains in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
