Labour Day is a time to reflect and celebrate the fruits of your labour. One should acknowledge all of the good things dedicated union members have helped put in place. Medicare, maternity leave, minimum wage, health and safety laws, pensions and vacation are all part of labour’s legacy. So, too, is tolerance, respect for human rights, diversity and equality. The list of achievements is a long one.

The North Bay and district labour council president, Henri Giroux stated “Workers in unions have built this country and changed the land scape forever. Labour’s legacy of hope to continue to build a better tomorrow is under attack by the government’s austerity agenda. Unionist should stand together no matter what their social status is and stand up for a better Ontario.”

North Bay and District Labour council invites you and your family to the 8th annual free Labour Day picnic at the North Bay water front Monday September 3rd from 11:30am to 4pm.

The day kicks off with a parade of flags beginning @ 11:30am featuring your local Shriner’s and North Bay legion pipe and drums band. Enjoy a bbq with beverage, cotton candy or popcorn. Take a train or carousel ride. Take a jump with Apollo gymnastics. Your children can try their luck at the fish pond and enjoy our huge inflatables. There is something for everyone. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy the music of our very own Harley Renaud.
