Jerry O'Connell had plenty of time for the audience during an extended Q and A at the Carter TV series premiere screening on May 15th at the Capitol Centre. Jeff Turl/BayToday.

Tanya Bedard says she is getting calls from all over the province from people amazed at the exposure the city of North Bay is getting through the new Carter TV series which debuted on BRAVO on Tuesday, May 15th.

“It is really great to hear from ex-pats or people who used to live here who don’t anymore and it is just putting us on the map which is really great,” said Bedard.

North Bay’s Economic Development officer has been working hand in hand with the film industry.  The City held a screening of the series premiere shot in the North Bay area last summer.

Since then social media has been flooded with posts from locals who have had some connection to the show which aired episode two this Tuesday night.

Bedard is amazed at how much community spirit is coming out with every episode that is revealed.

“I said it during World Curling that it was clearly evident that there is a tremendous source of pride and community pride and that is something that we do not get to see often and I think events like the Women’s World Curling and Carter, and that tremendous sense of community pride and, ‘I’m from North Bay and I am in the show and I helped make this happen,’” she said.

Of course, having Jerry O’Connell pumping up the city of North Bay so much in the international media doesn’t hurt either.

“We could not have asked for a better ambassador and hopefully we will be able to continue on with the series for a long time to come,” said Bedard.

O’Connell even stated at the Carter screening that North Bay itself is like another character in the show.

“It is fun to write to it, it is fun to play to it, its really fun,” O’Connell told the media in North Bay on May 15th.

“We are a really Canadian show and with that not only comes talking about Canada but also talking about North Bay, you know. I have been doing press for it all week and everybody loves it when I drop the North Bay wisdom on them it’s fun, I think everybody is rooting for North Bay.”
