SUV wrapped around hydro pole on Lakeshore

Police say it is a single-vehicle accident with no injuries.

Lakeshore Drive was reduced to just three lanes this afternoon after an SUV took out a hydro pole outside the Dairy Queen, at 231 Lakeshore.

It happened just before 2 p.m. when the vehicle, heading north, mounted the sidewalk, and struck the pole, knocking out power to surrounding neighbourhoods.

Police say it is a single-vehicle accident with no injuries.

The fire department used the jaws of life to try and extricate the vehicle.

No word yet when power will be restored, and Lakeshore may be reduced to two lanes as emergency crews work to resolve the problem.
