Car rear-ends transport, driver charged with impaired

OPP have laid multiple charges, including impaired and uttering threats after a car rear-ended a tractor-trailer on Wednesday.

The two-vehicle collision occurred on Highway 11 North in North Bay.   

When police arrived they saw that the car had run into the rear of the tractor-trailer and the driver of the car had fled on foot.   

The driver was found near the scene by officers and arrested for impaired driving. The driver received minor injuries from the collision.   

He was brought back to the detachment for further tests and then to the hospital and released.

Christopher John Beattie, 25, from Arnprior is was charged with:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand, 
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, 
  • Uttering Threats - cause death or bodily harm, 
  • Mischief - obstructs, interrupts or interferes with the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property, 
  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs, 
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available,
  • Having liquor in open container in other than licenced premises, residence or private place and
  • Fail to remain.

Beattie has been released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on October 8.
