With a looming skills shortage, Canadore is committed to filling the gap. Canadore College’s Board of Governors showed its commitment to strengthening the next wave of skilled workers by passing a resolution of support for key areas of growth at the November 20 board meeting.



The Board recognizes the need to develop highly-skilled, industry-ready graduates in the aviation and health and wellness industries, where skilled worker shortages could have the most impact.



“Expanding our potential to offer more aviation and health and wellness programs in dedicated space, using leading-edge equipment, represents an excellent investment,” said William Ferguson, Chair of the Board of Governors. “As we edge into the future, the ability for our society to remain healthy and safe will be challenging without a skilled workforce. Canadore is committed to reversing this trend with its Skilled Solution initiative.”



Canadore remains focused on quality learning and student success by collaborating with community, business and industry partners to offer relevant and specialized programs and create new economic opportunities. The College is actively developing programming that reflects marketplace needs regionally, provincially and globally with in-class and online programs.



“We are working with provincial, national and international leaders in health and aviation to adopt new ways of educating tomorrow’s workforce,” said George Burton, President of Canadore College. “We are fortunate to build on, and create new, public and private partnerships to build a strong and sustainable future for the global reality.”
