Canada wins 8-4 to improve to 7-0

Team Canada improved to 7-0 as once again the Jones rink got better as the game progressed to defeat Korea 8-4.

Canada scored two in the seventh and then added a steal in the eighth and two more in nine to secure the win over the Korean team skipped by Olympic silver medalist Yilun Jiang, whose team goes to 6-2.

“I thought we struggled early with the draw weight but once again we finished strong we’ve just got to get our starts a little better,” said Team Canada skip Jennifer Jones.

“We figured out the draw weight, which really kind of helped because we made some really good draws and we made some big shots when we had to.”

Jones also took time once again to thank the fans for the incredible support.

"Anytime we get to play on arena ice in front of this amazing crowd I will get excited for sure, it does not matter who we are playing,” she said.

“I cannot even believe the afternoon games are like this, this is unbelievable like I said before one of the best events we have ever been on."

Korea got a steal of one in the first.

But Canada able to score a pair in the fourth end.

Canada was sitting five but Korea was able to score one in the fifth to even the game at 3-3 on a nice draw to the button by Jiang.

Korea stole another one in the 6th.

But the game turned Canada's way after that.

In the seventh end, Jones’ draw to the button to score two was effective but had to go to measurement with a Korean stone on the edge of the button. Canada’s was slightly closer which gave the Jones rink a deuce and a 5-4 lead.

Canada followed that up with a steal of one in the eighth to increase the lead to 6-4.

Jones continued with an amazing double takeout with her last rock in nine which forced Korea to draw to the button and Canada stole another deuce which made it 8-4 and the teams shook hands after nine.
