We all love those colourful horses and northern animals featured at the carousels at the waterfront.

They hibernate over the winter just like their forest-living cousins, but need a little help to get ready for summer.

That's where you come in.

The good folks who operate the attractions are holding a "Wake Up The Horses" event on Saturday May 6th,10 a.m. till 2 p.m.

"We are looking for volunteers to help wake up the horses and woodland creatures in preparation for this summer's operations.  Cleaning out the cobwebs, and
polishing of brass is needed to get ready," says spokesman Bill White.

"There will also be an open house and information session for anyone interested in volunteering with us operating these attractions. This is such a fun way to spend a few volunteer hours meeting people from all over the world who come to this amazing waterfront attraction."

It's also a great, fun opportunity for students to get their community volunteer hours needed for graduation.

Schedule of operation:

Friday May 12th,  4 p.m. - dusk
May 13th and 14th, 10 a.m. - dusk
Weekends up to and including June 23, 24, 25  -  10 a.m. till dusk.

"Our full 7seven day schedule starts June 26th and runs through to September 4th, when we revert to weekends on September 8th through to October 6, 7 and 8th."

All times at weather permitting.
