On Sunday, April 29, from 10:45 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., the congregation of Calvin Presbyterian Church will be taking to the streets of North Bay to do their second annual 5th Sunday Neighbourhood Litter Clean-up.

April 29th is the fifth Sunday of the month, and the practice for the past year has been to do something special for morning worship on any Sunday that is the fifth one of the month.

In 2017, three 5th Sunday Worship Events were held, including the first Neighbourhood Clean-up on April 30th, an outdoor morning worship at the waterfront on July 30, and on October 30th over 500 people who use the church building every week were invited to morning worship followed by a free luncheon.

The plan for this year is to hold a 15-minute worship service, after which the congregation will fan out into the streets bordered by Algonquin Ave, High, Princess and Cassells to clean-up the litter left from a long, snowy winter.

While out in the streets, participants will be encouraged to invite anyone and everyone they meet for a free lunch at the church at 12:15 pm. For those who are unable to go out to help clean up, they can participate by helping to prepare lunch or by creating crafts and cards for the local nursing home residents.
