Callander's popular summer FunFest has been cancelled over coronavirus fears.

The decision was made at a special council meeting Tuesday. The event was slated to take place on June 27.

“We are naturally disappointed that FunFest will not take place this year," said Mayor Robb Noon.."However, given the current situation with COVID-19, cancelling the event is the right thing to do. These kinds of community celebrations require lots of planning and extensive third-party involvement. Council wanted to make a decision early on to allow all parties involved to make alternative plans.”

In addition to FunFest, the Family Board Games meeting, Arbour Day and Evening of Appreciation, all scheduled to take place in April, have been cancelled.

Callander also passed a resolution to close all Callander outdoor recreational amenities.
