(ENGLEHART, ON) Three males attended Teddy Falls on the Larder River in Marter Township to go for a swim on July 13, 2013 and at approximately 4:30pm members of the Englehart Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to the scene.

A 24-year-old male jumped from the top of the water falls into the water and surfaced momentarily then disappeared below the water. Attempts to find their friend following the jump were unsuccessful so police were called. The deceased was not familiar with the area and was unaware of water depths and hidden hazards below the water.

Englehart OPP assisted by the Ministry of Natural Resources Helicopter , OPP Emergency Response Team, and the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit located the victim Sunday afternoon.

The deceased, Chris HRYHORUK age 24 of Callandar, Ontario was transported to the hospital where he was sent to Sault Ste Marie for a post mortem exam to be held on Tuesday.

Police do not suspect foul play at this time. The investigation is continuing.
