The value of building permits in the City of North Bay topped $57.89-million for the first eight months of 2016 according to a city news release.

“This summer the City has seen a boom in construction activity thanks to a number of large industrial and commercial projects that are on the go,” said Mayor Al McDonald.

The strong numbers leading into September are in large part associated with institutional and commercial building values that continued to climb after the first half of the year.  Since June commercial construction values rose 7.9%, while industrial construction values increased 10%. Activity in the City’s residential building values is also there with housing work permits also on the rise.

“People are building additions and making alterations to their homes,” said McDonald.  “This is all great news for our community. It means that North Bay is a place where people want to live.”

A City building permit is required to build, demolish or renovate a dwelling.  The City’s building statistics provide a record of all the permits issued during a period of time for residential, industrial, commercial and institutional construction in North Bay.
