Chris Bonany did not leave North Bay because he wanted to; work took him away from the place that introduced him to the sport of bowling.

Under the tutelage of mentors such as Ray Blanchfield, Mel Edwards and Mario Caicco, Bonany not only learned the sport but excelled at it, setting numerous high-water marks while competing in YBC and provincial events.

From 1993 through to 2009 as a resident of Saskatchewan, Bonany established himself as a top-level bowler, having won the provincial singles championship and a gold medal and a 4th place finish at the Canadian Championships (including a perfect game). In 1997 and 2001, he claimed the provincial Royal Canadian Legion singles championship with averages of 309 and 289, respectively.

Following his competitive career, Bonany turned to coaching where he lead the provincial senior boy’s teams to gold at the Canadian Championships.

He also coached men’s teams to provincial championships and ultimately gained the status of a certified master bowler. For his achievements as an athlete and coach, Chris was inducted into the Saskatoon Hall of Fame in 2008.

Chris Bonany not only gained much recognition as a national level bowler, but also gave back to the sport he loved through coaching and mentoring that provided many opportunities for young bowlers to achieve a high level of success.

Chris Bonany will be inducted at the 42nd Annual Induction and Awards Dinner to be held at the Davedi Club on Saturday, May 6th, 2023.

Tickets are available by calling Larry Tougas at 705-303-8104, the Davedi Club at 705-474-4190, or by contacting any Board Member.
