Boil-water advisory lifted

A boil-water advisory in West Nipissing has been lifted.
A boil-water advisory in West Nipissing has been lifted.

Further information is included in the following news release issued this afternoon by the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit:

Medical Officer of Health Dr Catherine Whiting is pleased to announce that the boil water advisory placed on the Village of Verner municipal water supply on August 5, 2005 has been lifted.

The laboratory test results for bacteria, on water samples taken on August 8, were negative. There was no detected contamination of the water supply and the disinfection process is working.

Residential users of the municipal water supply are advised to run each of their cold water taps for one minute on first use. Large-volume users are advised to run cold water taps for two minutes on first use. To remove sediment, screens should be removed from taps, rinsed and replaced. These steps, in addition to normal use of water, will be sufficient to ensure that properly chlorinated water is available at the tap.

For more information, call (705) 474-1400 or 1-800-563-2808 and ask for a public health inspector. The Health Unit website at www.nbdhu.on.ca provides further information.
