Just how deadly blown tires can be was clearly evident Friday afternoon on Highway 400 in the Seguin Township.

At 4:10 p.m. members of the West Parry Sound OPP responded to a single vehicle collision.

Police say a northbound Honda Civic lost control after blowing a tire causing the vehicle to collide with the guardrail and ending up straddling both northbound lanes of traffic.

The 34 year old female driver was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries.

A female passenger was also rushed to hospital by Emergency Medical Services with non-life threatening injuries and later released.

The Collision closed the Highway 400 northbound lanes for approximately 2.5 hours while police conducted their investigation.

Northbound traffic was re-routed along a side road northbound to Parry Sound while the highway was closed.

The investigation is continuing.
