Bike bylaw

The Traffic section of the North Bay Police Service has issued a news release this morning about the bylaw dealing with bicycles on sidewalks.

North Bay by law 2002-01, Section 5 states “No person shall ride a bicycle upon a sidewalk or boulevard but may ride over an approach or sidewalk crossing.”

Officers with the service use discretion when dealing with an observed offence.

Presently there is no out of court fine for this bylaw, and attempts are being made to have a set fine shown on the ticket in order to have defendants deal with this without having to appear in court.
