Recent rain and cooler temperatures are helping firefighters make a big dent in the forest fire situation.

Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services says, as of yesterday, there are just 11 active forest fires across the northeast, all of which are under control or being observed.

There were no new fires confirmed Sunday.

The fire hazard in the northeast remains predominately moderate for most of the region with the exception of the stations in the south, along with the North Shore, and further north where the forest fire hazard remains at the high and extreme level.

Meanwhile, Parry Sound 33 is under control at 11,362 hectares.
