From Tuesday, May 22 through to Friday, May 25, the Heart & Stroke Foundation’s Big Bike will be riding through Nipissing District.

The red 30-seater tandem bike will begin its route at the Discovery North Bay Museum square and will take riders up and around the downtown core. For the first time ever, the Big Bike will also be traveling to Callander, riding this year at Centennial Park the morning of Wednesday, May 23.

Last year, nearly 40 teams participated, raising $68,000 locally.

With spring now underway, timeslots for the 2018 ride are filling up quickly. If you are interested in registering for Big Bike, in either North Bay or Callander, please contact Julia Tignanelli, Heart & Stroke’s Area Coordinator for Nipissing District, at 705-980-4196 or email julia.tignanelli@heartandstroke.ca.

“This is a unique, high-energy event that many local organizations look forward to year after year,” says Tignanelli.

“Big Bike is meant to be a fun teambuilding activity that promotes health and wellness in the workplace and in our community, while also raising funds for heart and stroke research that is so vital to the health of Canadians.”

Funds raised through this campaign go directly into the Heart & Stroke Foundation’s mission.

Every seven minutes, someone in Canada dies from heart disease or stroke. In 80% of cases, premature heart attacks and strokes are preventable with healthy lifestyle changes.
