BeaverTail truck back in business

'All events are cancelled this summer so I am just trying to give some people from North Bay a little bit of comfort food while they are going through this'

Ray Seguin's BeaverTail truck has been sitting in a parking lot for more than a month now since the coronavirus pandemic.

Normally, he would be getting the trailer and crews ready for various events across northeastern Ontario.

"We were supposed to be at the Maple Syrup Festival in Powassan, and we were preparing to be set up during Armed Forces Day and Canada Day events in North Bay plus all sorts of events around the region," said Seguin, the BeaverTail franchisee for the region since 2016.

However, Seguin who owns Lucky 13 confectioneries in the area, is now re-opening his BeaverTail trailer in the parking lot of his McKeown Avenue store in North Bay and the orders will be made inside the store.

"My staff will go into the BeaverTail trailer where the kitchen is. They will make the BeaverTail and they will bring it out in a container to the customer in the store that is waiting," said Seguin.

"It is just a way of doing BeaverTails while practicing social distancing. Obviously we are not going to be busy like we are at an event but we are trying to create enough sales to sell our inventory. It is allowing me to keep a couple more staff hired."

Seguin is opening the BeaverTails from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday to Sunday starting on Thursday, April 30.
