The short-staffed version of the North Bay Battalion will hit the ice for one more pre-season contest this Saturday.

The Troops are on the road to Pembroke for a match with the Ottawa 67's.

The Battalion will play the contest without nine regulars who are still attending National Hockey League camps.

This will be the last time for many of the youngsters to prove themselves during pre-season game action.

The Troops come into the game after a lopsided 9-3 setback at the hands of the Owen Sound Attack on Tuesday in Owen Sound.

Battalion coach Ryan Oulahen believes there were some good lessons learned for some of those young players in that loss that drops the Battalion to 0-2 in the pre-season.

"I know the score shows what it shows but when we start looking through the video and seeing a lot of things," he said.

"First and foremost the work ethic has been there and that has been the biggest thing with the young kids and now there are a lot of mistakes going on but they are things that we can teach and we can get better at. What we kind of need at this time is it could help if some veteran players come back because they could show the way and instead of correcting so much then we are going to have a lot of positive video here shortly so you have to reflect on what this time of year is all about. You cannot get too high or too low especially right now.

Rookie and 2022 first-round pick Ethan Procyszyn leads the Troops in pre season scoring with 1 goal and 2 assists for 3 points.  Kyle McDonald, who is now at Ottawa Senators Main Camp, and Michael Podolioukh have two goals each.

The Battalion will begin their regular season with a double header on September 30 and October 4 at the GFL Memorial Gardens in Sault Ste. Marie as they meet up with John Dean's Soo Greyhounds.
