The North Bay Battalion has traded overage defenceman Nick King to the Kingston Frontenacs, the Ontario Hockey League club announced Saturday.

North Bay received the Frontenacs’ 12th-round pick in the 2021 OHL Priority Selection for King, who became one of four overage players on the Battalion roster when fellow rearguard Nick Grima was acquired October 7 from the Sarnia Sting.

“We were very happy with how he played for us, and we’re happy we could find him another opportunity,” said Stan Butler, director of hockey operations and head coach on Battalionhockey.com.

The Kitchener product played six games with the Battalion this season, earning three assists.

King has netted 11 goals along with 50 assists for 61 points in 129 games with the Battalion since being acquired in a trade with the Attack back in the fall of 2017 for a 2018 seventh-round pick.

The Battalion roster now numbers 22, made up of two goaltenders, seven defencemen and 13 forwards.
