Dalyn Wakely scored twice to lead the North Bay Battalion to a 6-3 road victory over the Owen Sound Attack on Saturday night.

Owen Van Steensel, Alexander Lukin, Anthony Romani and the red hot Justin Ertel had the other goals for the Troops on the road.

The Battalion got off to a quick start as Van Steensel opened the scoring less than two minutes into the opening frame.

Midway through the first Alexander Lukin notched his first of the season to give the Troops a 2-0 first period lead.

The Attack cut into that lead courtesy of Kaleb Lawrence who made it 2-1 with his power play marker around the 15 minute mark.

However, less than a minute after the power play goal, Anthony Romani gave the Troops back their two-goal lead as it remained at 3-1 after 20 minutes of play

The Troops again set the tempo of the period early as Wakely notched his first of the night near the two-minute mark which made it 4-1 Battalion.

However, the Attack responded with a pair of second period goals by Ethan Burroughs and Colby Barlow which cut the lead to 4-3 after two periods of play.

Wakely got an important insurance marker just over 7 minutes into the third period with assists going to Nikita Tarasevich and Ty Nelson.

Ertel put the game on ice with an empty net tally with 14 seconds left in regulation.

Charlie Robertson got the win between the pipes for the Troops turning away 31 of the 34 shots he faced.

The win moves the Battalion to 14-6-0 for 28 points which puts them atop the Central Division.

The Battalion plays host to the Ottawa 67’s at 7 p.m. Thursday on Special Olympics Night.
