Jacob Brown believes during these tough times, the return of senior baseball can be considered a breath of fresh air.

The North Bay Senior Men's Baseball League will throw out the season's first pitch on Monday night at Veteran's Field.

The four-team league will play a 12 game season with two best-of-three playoff series' which would conclude by mid-October.

"Our league promises to have a competitive, safe and exciting 2020 campaign," said Brown, league official and competitor.

"Obviously, this season will be a little different than previous years, there are many safety measures that have been put in place such as, one umpire calling balls and strikes from behind the mound. Players are prohibited from spitting, no high fives or handshakes at the end of games."

Brown says spectators will be able to watch but are being told to stay clear of the dugouts and practice social distancing.

Assante and Blanchfield Roofing will start things off at 6 p.m. while East Side Mario's will face CBR in the late game.
