Barricade episode in Sundridge ends with person hospitalized

Almaguin OPP is reporting that a "barricaded person" incident in Sundridge Monday evening ended with someone taken to hospital.

"A barricaded person incident in Sundridge has ended," said Constable Melissa Thomas in a news release Monday night. "One person is being treated at hospital for non-life-threatening injuries."

Police responded to a domestic dispute on Lake Bernard drive around 8 p.m. after which the person barricaded themselves in the house.

 A "shelter in place of safety" advisory was implemented.

Police used a drone during the negotiations and blocked off surrounding streets.

Assisting with the event were the OPP Emergency Response Team, a Tactics and Rescue Team, a Canine Unit, negotiators.  and an OPP Critical Incident Commander.  

Police say they will not release the identity or gender of the person in order to protect the identity of the victim.
