Ryan Desbiens is thrilled about his back-to-back NDA football championship.

The head coach of Algonquin Barons guided his squad to its second consecutive NDA Senior Football title last Friday night with a 36-11 win over the St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears at Mike O'Shea Field at the Steve Omischl Sports Complex.

But he knows the challenge at NOSSA will be a daunting one as they travel to Sault Ste. Marie to take on the mighty Korah Colts.

Those Colts rushed for seven touchdowns in a 49-22 victory over the Lo-Ellen Park Knights in NOSSA semifinal action last Saturday afternoon in Sudbury, and the week before the Colts won their fifth straight city title in Sault Ste. Marie thanks to a 37-15 win over the St. Mary’s Knights.

It's a re-match of the 2021 NOSSA final where the Colts pulled off a decisive 36-0 win over the Barons.

"Korah is a tremendously well-coached team, their players are battle-hardened, strong and physical," said Desbiens.

"It will take our best effort of the season. Grit, determination and toughness are essential.

"We need to stay healthy for the duration of the game and execute the little nuanced aspects of the game consistently and effectively. We need to move the ball consistently on O and give our D a rest."

Jr Barons win

Meantime, the Barons secured their football dominance in North Bay high school football on Thursday as the Barons captured the NDA Junior Football title thanks to a 19-6 win over the St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears.
