The Korah Colts got off to a good start and cruised to a 49-6 win over the Algonquin Barons in the NOSSA football championship in Sault Ste. Marie.

Ryan Desbiens, Barons head coach, says sickness made the final a challenge.

"We were in tough going in as Influenza hit us hard this week," said Desbiens.

"We had 15 dressed at practice Tuesday and Wednesday, then 24 on Thursday. Of 34 we went to the Soo with 29. Two more got sick on the way so we started the game with 27, missing 5 starters. Then a couple more kids got banged up in first half, to start second half."

Desbiens is still proud of his club's effort despite the score.

"The boys played hard all the way through and we managed to score points - a TD by Simon Dubé near the end. Something we didn’t do last year," said Desbiens as his team was shutout in the NOSSA final by the Colts last fall.

Aden Dionne was a bright spot for the short staffed Barons as he had 15+ tackles and was in on most defensive plays.
