Nipissing-Timiskaming MP Jay Aspin
Jay Aspin, Member of Parliament for Nipissing-Timiskaming, announced Friday on behalf of the Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development to mark the opening of the YES Employment Services’ new facility. The facility will support youth in Nipissing region to help them gain the skills, knowledge and experience they need to enter and succeed in the job market.
“Our government’s top priorities are job creation, economic growth and long-term prosperity,” said Mr. Aspin. “The Government of Canada’s Youth Employment Strategy is helping youth develop the skills and gain the experience they need to get jobs now and prepare for the workforce of tomorrow.”
YES Employment Services is receiving over $85,000 from the Skills Link program to help youth overcome barriers to employment. Skills Link is part of the Government of Canada’s Youth Employment Strategy.
“YES Employment Services is pleased to partner with the Government of Canada to assist the disadvantaged youth of our community develop their skills and access new opportunities,” said Gisèle Cousineau, CEO and Chef de la direction, Yes Employment Services (Nipissing). “Helping our youth discover possibilities for their future also benefits the future growth of our community.”
“I am very proud of our Federal Government for investing in the youth of our community,” said MP Aspin. “The Government of Canada investment of $1 million was critical in realizing the new YES facility. This new facility is an investment in our youth and investment in the future economic prosperity of our community.”
Economic Action Plan 2012 is providing an additional $50 million over two years to enhance the Youth Employment Strategy through a new initiative that will connect young Canadians with jobs that are in high demand and help them develop tangible skills and gain work experience.
