Well known local business advisor, economic development professional and Near North District School Board Trustee Jay Aspin has been acclaimed as the Conservative Candidate for the riding of Nipissing-Timiskaming.

“This region has always been very good to both me and my family. I have certainly appreciated the solid community support over three decades of elected public service - six terms as a school trustee and six terms as a North Bay councillor. I want to utilize this extensive experience and background to continue to give back to the region in a major way” said Aspin.

The Conservative Party and local Nipissing-Timiskaming Riding Association acclaimed Aspin following a candidate search and selection process that concluded on January
24th, 2011.

“We are fortunate to have Jay Aspin as our candidate. During his time in office, he also was elected President of the Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities and the Northern Ontario School Trustees by his peers. His extensive political experience and leadership roles on both municipal and school board organizations will be invaluable to our riding and the Conservative Party of Canada” said Dennis OʼConnor, Nipissing-Timiskaming Riding Association President. “Our ultimate goal is to elect Jay as a member of the government to ensure our riding has a strong and connected voice in parliament” said OʼConnor.

Aspin will hit the road running, traveling across the riding to hear first-hand the issues and concerns of the people of Nipissing-Timiskaming.

“I look forward to working with Stephen Harper and the Conservative Caucus to move our region forward and make it a better place” said Aspin. “There really has been very little happening federally in this riding in recent years and I feel confident that I can be the connecting voice to government to get this riding rolling with priorities on job creation and economic development” added Aspin.
