Anyone in that trunk? Morning police report

The North Bay Police Service is seeking the public's help in investigating a suspicious incident that took place Monday at approximately 12:30 p.m.

That's when passengers travelling east in a vehicle on Hwy 17 near Stockfish Ford allegedly observed what they thought was a person within a trunk of a vehicle that had pulled over to the side of the road.

This vehicle is further described as a burnt orange coloured Pontiac.

The call eventually made its way to the North Bay Police Service where Cst.
Dave Wilson and Chief Paul Cook were on duty together.

The caller had contacted police later within their trip to Ottawa. Any
information from the public should be called in to the nearest police
agency.

FOUR IMPAIRED DRIVERS
Officers of the North Bay Police Service were kept busy during the Christmas
holidays with several impaired drivers.

Two were stopped on Dec. 24 and one each on the 26th and 27th of
December respectively.

SEVENTEEN-YEAR-OLD WITH KNIFE
On Dec 24. shortly after 2 AM a fight broke out on Main Street, in
North Bay. One of the combatants was a 17-year-old female and she allegedly stabbed a 21-year-old male victim.

Constables Ken Rice and Scott Buchanan of the North Bay Police Service were called to investigate and arrested the female assailant at the scene.

The 17-year-old female has been charged with assault with a weapon and is to appear in court on Jan. 15.

A 21-year-old male victim received several stitches to his arm.

ANOTHER KNIFE CALL
While investigating the above incident the two officers questioned a male
subject who was allegedly found to be in possession of a flick knife.
Thomas Checkley, 19, of Highway 11 N, is charged with possession
of a prohibited weapon. He is to appear in court on Feb. 7.

BREAK AND ENTERS
On Dec. 26 at approximately 2 AM officers from the North Bay Police
Service responded to an alarm at George's Variety on Hardy Street.

When they got there, they saw that two separate padlocks had been pried open within the basement area. However no access to the store had been gained.

Overnight Dec. 25 someone entered an apartment in the 200 block
of Main Street E and broke a ceramic saucer that was kept in a cardboard box.

The box had been removed from a closet. Nothing appeared to have been taken.

Between 1:30 PM and 4:30 PM on Dec. 26 thieves kicked in a side
door to a residence in the 100 block of Spencer Street. Once inside they stole a safe with a substantial amount of cash and old coins, several pieces of
jewellery, a 32" flat screen plasma TV with a Panasonic surround receiver,
as well as 2 digital cameras and a palm camcorder.

They also stole several narcotic prescriptions.
