Reports of another boat capsizing on Lake Nipissing, but this time the boaters were smarter.

On Sunday members of the Anishinabek Police Service Nipissing Detachment and the Nipissing Fisheries Department received a call for to the area of Lake Nipissing near Yellek Trail.  Two boaters fell into the water after their boat capsized.

"An officer was able to get the assistance of some homeowners in the area who launched their personal boat," said Sgt. Allan Naveau. "The homeowners and officer attended the area of where the boat capsized and were able to pull the persons to safety."

The rescued boaters were wearing lifejackets and were able to use a cell phone to call for help.

The Anishinabek Police Service is reminding boaters to wear their floatation devices while on their boats.

"It is very difficult to put on a floatation device once you have fallen into the water," added Naveau. "The waters of Lake Nipissing are still very cold.  Please ensure that all safety equipment is on board and operational."
