Another 10 new COVID cases over the weekend

An outbreak has been declared at the North Bay jail where 18 people have tested positive

The North Bay Parry Sound Health Unit reports another 10 new COVID cases over the weekend, bringing to 532 the number wince the pandemic began.

There are a rising number of active cases in the region, now standing at 53. There were 15 new cases reported Friday.

Of the active cases, 51 are in the Nipissing District. Six are currently in hospital.

The Health Unit also reports 72 per cent of adults have received at least one dose of vaccine and 18 per cent are fully vaccinated.

The uptick in local cases comes as Ontario reports a declining number of cases.

Public Health Ontario has reported 270 new COVID-19 cases in its latest report (June 21).

This is the seventh consecutive day the province has reported fewer than 400 new cases, and the second time this month the daily case report has been below 300. 

Today's update also includes 486 new recoveries and three deaths.
