Nipissing University’s Alumni Association is honouring three individuals, Jamie Lim, Krista Lariviere, and Murray Green, at the annual Alumni Awards and Convocation dinner Friday, June 9, at 7:00 p.m. at the Clarion Resort Pinewood Park. Jamie Lim is the recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award, Krista Lariviere is the recipient of the Alumni Achievement Award, and Murray Green is being awarded Honorary Alumni Status. The Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes outstanding achievements, present stature, and/or future potential of Nipissing University alumni.

Lim completed her Bachelor of Education at Nipissing University in 1983. She began her career teaching and later served as a trustee on the Timmins Board of Education. Lim has received national recognition for community, youth, education and industry support during her tenure as the Mayor of Timmins. Lim is currently the President and CEO of the Ontario Forest Industries Association, which works to ensure that industry positions are recognized and considered by government and to build an awareness and understanding of Ontario's forest industry with the public. She is presently the Chair of Ontario Wood WORKS. Lim has won numerous awards, due to her extensive professional and community experience.

The Alumni Achievement Award is presented annually to an alumnus who demonstrates leadership abilities and community involvement and who displays significant accomplishment in their chosen profession. It is restricted to alumni who have graduated in the past 15 years. Krista Lariviere graduated from Nipissing University with a Bachelor of Arts in Administrative Studies and Economics as well as a Bachelor of Business Administration. In 1999, she co-founded cgk Technologies and in 2004 co-founded Hot Banana Software. In two years Hot Banana Software has grown to 15 employees with 20 distributors in 7 countries with sales of $2 million. In 2005 Lariviere was named as one of the top 10 finalist in the BDC's Young Entrepreneur Awards. Her civic accomplishments include involvement with Shad International, the MacLaren Art Centre, Downtown Barrie BIA, Women Entrepreneurs of Canada and Women in Technology. Lariviere is a proud and active Rotarian, continually giving back to her local and international communities.

Murray Green will be awarded Honorary Alumni status for his 16 years of service to Nipissing University. Green started his career with Nipissing University in 1989 as Vice-President Administration and Finance. His extensive work with the Board of Governors, the Nipissing University Alumni Association, external associations, the larger community and Canadore College, are highlights of his exemplary contribution to Nipissing University.

The Alumni Association is immensely proud to count Jamie Lim, Krista Lariviere, and Murray Green among its membership, said NUAA President Micheal Wright. They exemplify the finest characteristics of Nipissing Alumni and it is our honour to recognize them for their exceptional professional and personal successes and tremendous commitment to their community and to Nipissing University.
