A man stole a truck in Sudbury and was caught when he had a collision with a sign in North Bay.
Police say that that sometime between the evening of January 16th and the early morning hours of January 17th, 2017, the man, who is unlicensed, took a pick-up truck from Sudbury without the registered owner’s consent.
Shortly before 6 a.m. on Tuesday January 17th, while police say he was driving in an impaired state, he lost control of the stolen vehicle and collided into a sign located on the front property of a retail business on the 700 block of Fisher Street.
The truck was extensively damaged as a result of the collision.
Following a search of the driver and vehicle after his arrest police seized a small quantity of marijuana.
North Bay Police arrested and charged the male driver, Tyler Spanish, age 22, of Sudbury with:
- One count of theft of motor vehicle;
- One count of possession of marijuana; and
- One count of driving with more than 80 mg of alcohol in blood
He was also issued a summons for the offence of “drive motor vehicle – no licence”.
Spanish was held in custody for a bail hearing.
