Alberta man faces numerous charges after fleeing police

CITY OF TEMISKAMING SHORES - On September 25, at approximately 3:03 pm members of the Temiskaming Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint about an erratic driver. Officers then observed the driver and suspect vehicle in a service station parking lot. Further investigation revealed the driver of suspect vehicle was the subject of police zone alerts from September 24 and 25 2012 which placed police on high alert do to flight from police incidents in other police jurisdictions.

OPP officers attempted to stop the vehicle which was southbound on Highway 11 in the former Township of Dymond. The vehicle fled southbound for several kilometres. While evading police the suspect vehicle struck three vehicles including an OPP cruiser.

At approximately 4:00 pm officers deployed a spike belt near Martin River and disabled the vehicle. The driver fled from the vehicle and was apprehended without injury to himself or police.

The accused was held at Temiskaming Detachment and appeared at a bail hearing at the Haileybury Court House today, September 26, 2012.

Michael DAVID, 34, of Calgary, Alberta has been charged with the following:

• Flight from Police Officer
• Dangerous Operation - Motor Vehicle
• Fail to Remain at Scene of Accident, 3 counts
• Theft Over
• Theft Under
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime - Over 5000
• Fail to Comply with Undertaking
