Airplane hangar turned into a multi-sport gymnasium?

“It’s so awesome, with a big, high roof and there is a whole bunch of new stuff I want to introduce so it should be pretty good."

You definitely can say that Tim Simpson likes to think outside the box.

The former high school teacher/coach is the owner of Pro Sports Management where he has run unique events including bubble soccer, archery tag and dodgeball.

Gymnasiums are big but Simpson got a lead on an empty hangar at Comsatec Aviation and the sports entrepreneur has secured a deal to run a multitude of programming out of the giant hangar north of Jack Garland airport.

“I guess they don’t have a plane in there for the next couple of months and it’s sitting empty so we got talking [Comsatec],” said Simpson, who is calling the hangar the Pro Sports Fun House.

“Now we have some fencing to configure things and basically we worked out a deal where we can basically use it 6 to 7 days a week if we can put enough programming into it so that’s where we are going right now.”

Simpson thinks the sky is the limit for the hangar.  He’s hoping to include ball hockey, ping pong and even has offered the Model Airplane Club an opportunity to fly their planes in the large hangar.

“It’s so awesome, with a big, high roof and there is a whole bunch of new stuff I want to introduce so it should be pretty good,” said Simspon.

“We’ve got it for a couple of months anyway.”

Simpson says they will operate at the hangar until the aviation company gets a new winged tenant in the hangar.

Until then he will begin running his unique sporting events out of the hangar starting with youth dodgeball on Monday.
