These clean, green an beautiful garbage bags are not counted in your normal three-bag limit.

Clean Green Beautiful North Bay wants you to adopt your street,  bus stop, beach, or favorite trail and keep it litter free this year.

Starting March 8, CGB litter bags will be available by ordering on Facebook or @cleangreenbeautiful.com. Leave your bags out on your regular garbage day to be picked up by Miller Waste, free of charge until the first snowfall.

The ongoing challenge for 2021 is to be litter-free.

“Our community took on this challenge with great enthusiasm last year and we are asking them to come on board again!” said committee member, Tealia Carriere.

The committee is also preparing for Communities In Bloom, a non-profit organization that evaluates communities either provincially or nationally.

"Our CGB committee will invite our community to work to enter the competition in 2022, competing with cities our size.  Winning the competition would give us the title of “the most beautiful city in Ontario, relative to our population. Entering Communities in Bloom is an excellent vehicle to ignite and engage our community. It also gives us a community scorecard to benchmark where we are and how we can get better, together.” said CGB Chair, Hariett Madigan.

Six Litterbuster teams will be out once a week instead of just one team this year.  Teams will be assigned to six areas in the city to do litter pickups in heavily littered locations.

New this year is a storm sewer initiative.

CGB will enlist volunteers in all neighbourhoods throughout the community to ensure that storm sewers are clear of litter to lower the risk of local water source contamination.
