Acclaimed director McGowan in the Bay to screen Still Mine Reminder

North Bay Film's 10th annual Canadian Film Festival is bringing nationally acclaimed film director Michael McGowan to North Bay on Saturday February 9th to present his latest feature film, STILL MINE as the festival's gala presentation (7:30pm).

The film stars James Cromwell and Genevieve Bujold and recounts the true story of an 89 year-old man building a home for his wife as she begins to experience the effects of dementia.

North Bay Film festival audiences will remember McGowan's 2008 feature ONE WEEK, screened at our 8th annual Canadian Film Festival in 2011.


STILL MINE is set in New Brunswick, and parts of it were shot in our region, in communities including Port Loring and North Bay.


McGowan is well known internationally for his films and awards.

A brief bio from the Toronto International Film Festival demonstrates his achievements: Michael McGowan was born in Toronto. His feature Saint Ralph (2004) was named one of Canada's Top Ten films of 2004 by TIFF, was the winner of TIFF Film Circuit's People's Choice Award, and received a Directors Guild of Canada Award for direction and a Writers Guild of Canada Award for best feature film.

His other features include My Dog Vincent (1998), One Week (2008) and Score: A Hockey Musical (2010), which was the Opening Night Gala at the Festival. Still Mine (2012) is his latest feature.


Tickets for the gala film are available at the Capitol Centre box office or online at www.capitolcentre.org for $12.00. Gala ticket holders have access to the gala party following the film presentation, on site at the WKP Kennedy Gallery and catered by Lonnie Reed of Delaney Bay Cheese Company.
