A True Celebration On Ice

Kurt Browning, Brian Orser, Elvis Stojko, and Shae-Lynn Bourne put on a show tonight that truly was a Celebration On Ice.

The show choreographed by Orser, featured two flawless performances by local skaters Chad Mathieu and Kaitlin Smith, kept the audience cheering from start to finish.

The World Champion and Olympic silver medallist said North Bay and the Gardens hold fond memories for him as he won his 6th Canadian championship here in 1986.

“That was my 6th Canadian title actually and I also have a lot of memories because I participated in a summer training camp here in 1972 or 73 and I boarded with a family here in town, so I have a soft place in my heart for this rink. I grew up in Orillia (Penetanguishine) just down the road so it feels like home,” said the world champ during intermission.
