A Dancing with the Stars themed event will take place tonight at the Davedi Club.

A total of six teams are taking part in Dancing with Easter Seals Stars fundraiser.

Local who are paired with a professional dancer include Mark Deacon, John Strang, Joshua Pride, Jules Pierre Fournier, Andre Purcell and Guy Faucher.

Joanne Bowers, is the Northeastern Ontario Development Officer for Easter Seals based out of Sudbury.  She says much like the TV show, scores and votes will determine the top three, with judges making the final determination on which is the winning pair.

“They perform two dance routines, they’re 90 seconds each and they’ll perform them live at the Davedi Club,” Bowers told Rogers Radio.

She also says this is the inaugural event locally.

“We’re looking to raise $40,000 with this event to purchase mobility equipment as well as camping experiences,” Bowers adds.
