Police say they seized 1,726 cannabis plants from the grow-op in Burk's Falls.

OPP have made a big drug bust at a grow-op near Burk's Falls.

Yesterday morning they executed a Cannabis Act search warrant at a commercial building on High Street.

Police seized 1,726 cannabis plants with a total value estimated to be more than $1.7 million.

Cong Nguyen, 23, and Hoang Nguyen, 34, both from Toronto are charged with 

  • Cultivate, propagate or harvest any cannabis plant at a place that is not their dwelling-house
  • Possession for the purpose of distributing

The two are not related.

Both were released from police custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday, November 25, in Sundridge.

Members of the Almaguin Highlands Community Street Crime Unit, the Provincial Joint Force Cannabis Enforcement Team, OPP Northeast Region Community Street Crime Unit, Sudbury Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, and the Almaguin Highlands Crime Unit took part in the investigation.
