Letter to the editor: Grandmother disappointed by treatment at Memorial Gardens

These young men arrive in suits and ties to represent their city so why can’t we do better than this?

As a grandparent, I’m highly embarrassed attending my grandson's AAA Trappers game at the Memorial Gardens.

They rent the arena for about $600, but they have to play the National Anthem while holding up a boom box. They don’t have access to their own room at the arena like other teams do in their arenas, and they won’t turn on all the lights.

They would have to pay a DJ well over $500 to do the music when all it would take is plugging in our device.

When they play in other cities, such as Sudbury, they have music to warm up to, and Oh Canada blasts through the speakers, and they have their own lockers and showers.

The atmosphere demonstrated in these other towns is exactly what our AAA Trappers need.

When Sudbury, the Sault, Timmins, Kapuskasing, and other cities come to play against our Trappers, it’s an embarrassment. Turn on the lights, give them access to the speakers.

These young men arrive in suits and ties to represent their city so why can’t we do better than this?

It’s our arena; we pay for it!
