Letter to the editor: Councillors should pay ultimate political price for Cassellholme fiasco

Chris…so this LTC project now hinges on a letter from the MOLTC. Yet MPP Vic Fedeli, once mayor of this aging community told me to put all my faith in you?

Not to be outdone, our Deputy Mayor Tanya Vrebosch resigns from the Board of Cassellholme because she cannot abide by its (construction cost) direction? Only to run as a provincial Liberal candidate for Nipissing? Liberal values have evolved a great deal in the Province of Ontario.

On the Federal front, our recently re-elected Honourable Anthony Rota, never mentioned the word LTC during his entire campaign and plays nursemaid again to members of the House of Commons, ignoring that LTC waiting lists in his riding are getting unmanageable. Any requested federal mediation assistance throughout this fiasco falls upon deaf ears.

The best part…if this desperately needed LTC project is trashed, a new Ice Palace (fully funded by North Bay) will surely rise to take its place. All as Mayor Al McDonald in a final bow, points to missions accomplished during his tenure.

For those on council who chose to torpedo this LTC project, I hope you pay the ultimate political price for that decision.

Time marches on and our city slowly becomes what it always wanted…bigger and better, eh?
