To the editor:

The recent letter, What happened to North Bay,? prompted me to add my comments.

Being I spent my school years at both St George's public school and Algonquin High, I recently travelled back to my hometown.

To say the least, I was truly disappointed in the general appearance of the downtown, generally run down and in much need of rejuvenation. Like most cities in decline, it suffers from a lack of funds and vision, and the general will at all levels of government to address the big issues is absent.

The drug issue on the streets is a major factor in the decline of the city. Until this is rectified the city will continue to decline to a level of no return The once vibrant downtown it once was, will be forever lost.

The city needs a huge amount of investment. Developers need to be enticed to build apartments, and condos, also attract well-paying industries

The City council needs to do more to get the community involved in the future of North Bay, it is a good place to live, but could be much improved.
