Letter: Dave Dale has a lot of gall

Editor's note: Mr. Wallace writes in response to Dave Dale's opinion piece titled Council punts and punts again.

To the editor:

This is likely a mistake on my part to take on Mr. Dale, but I cannot sit back and leave his “opinion” uncontested.

It is interesting to read Dave Dale’s comments when he arrives at his personal opinion without ever reaching out to me.

Mr. Dale writes “Wallace would have to walk me through the fine print to convince me otherwise” and yet he denies me that opportunity.

Mr. Dale also refers to my “passion to avoid cost share….for the past two decades” and I challenge him to produce the facts behind such a claim, knowing full well that I have never avoided “cost share”.

Nowhere in any of my presentations have I referred to “lost profits” as Mr. Dale indicates.

If Mr. Dale had taken the time to sit down with me, he would find that my issue with the City relates to a Council-approved agreement signed and sealed in 2008.

The City attempted to set aside the terms of that agreement in 2015 and has known for the past 6+ years that the agreement did not include “cost share” and the City has had the opportunity since November 2015 to challenge my interpretation of the Council approved agreement.

The City has done nothing over the past 75 months and is now attempting to get me to sign an agreement that sets aside and nullifies the provision in the 2008 Council approved agreement.

This is not a question of trying to avoid anything, it is a question about legalities and binding agreements that both parties must adhere to.

In my opinion, it takes a lot of gall for Mr. Dale to jump to conclusions without taking the opportunity to hear me out.
